“Politics meets rock in duo's Internet video” BOSTON - Their video doesn't take a stand on abortion, but the short clip produced and filmed by Cape-connected pair Benjamin Oliver and Mike Pecci does take on the political hot potato. -- 2/23/07 Best Experimental Film
Just got the award in the mail today from The Rome International Film Festival for Best Experimental film for "FLIGHT". A naked pregnant lady, how cool is that! -- 2/15/07 THE STERNS Just wrapped on a little indi-video for the band The Sterns. Those of you in Boston grab the new issue of the Boston Phoenix. I shot the images for the cover story about Boston Burlesque Troops. Once again I was able to team up with Lawrence Sampson and his awesome production design. He made that background out of cheap leather in about an hour and a half. I also worked with gaffer Mark Price. The ladies were a lot of fun and the shoot was pretty laid back. It's cool to have another cover under the belt. For those of you who aren't near Boston you can check out the article at: http://www.thephoenix.com/ -- 1/30/07 DIECAST Metal
We just wrapped production on our latest music video for DIECAST on Century Media. This was the first time I was able to Co-Direct with Ian McFarland and will be my first MTV aired director credit. The video came out awesome. 4 weeks of pre-production and the best crew in town enabled us to make one hell of a video. Shot as a complete narrative story it takes place in the 1940’s and follows around a crime scene photographer played by my old acting pal John Hart. Got to work with some new faces this time around and teamed up with a lot of the old favorites. Wait till you guys see it! Cast -- 1/20/07 The Subway Stalker Screens in RI.
The Subway Stalker screened at the Artist Exchange Film Festival in Rhode Island yesterday. It screened to a crowd of about 50 people and received rave reviews. Shannon and I were able to attend last minute and were on hand for questions and answers. Everyone wanted to know about this Tim guy. Was it real? Did he really do those things? It was a lot of fun getting reactions from people who had no connection to the film or us. Motif Magazine wrote a small blurb about it: “Subway Stalker,” by Michael Pecci and starring Tim Downey, takes a mere five minutes of your time, but leaves you a bit stunned for a spell. It’s about a creep who inappropriately touches a plump-ish girl as he describes her in the metro. He hopes that if he follows her at her stop, he'll get some serious action. This rather gross episode, as recalled by its narrating anti-hero, fascinates like a lurid version of “Curb Your Enthusiasm.” - written by Mike Fink MOTIF MAGAZINE -- 01/11/07 - Subway Stalker at Tromadance 2007!
This just in, The Subway Stalker has just been excepted to the 2007 Tromadance Film Festival! -- 10/31/06 - Zombie Fight! We just finished shooting an epic photo shoot for Suicide Girls. The set was once again a collaboration with production designer Lawrence Sampson and his crew! This shoot has led to two “firsts” from the website. This is the first photo shoot that they have allowed men to be in and this was also the first time the website offered the set for free to the public. They also cut a trailer for the set promoting its big Halloween day release! -- 9/11/06 - "Flight" Wins Festival Award! -- 6/30/06 Shooting The Disasters in Brooklyn
We just finished the new video for “Roger Merit & the Disasters”. We shot the video in Brooklyn NY with the brand new Panasonic HVX200 digital camera. The interesting thing about this rig is that it shoots without tape. Footage is stored on P2 Data cards and directly transferred to an edit system. It was nerve racking at first and we had to create a work flow that worked out in the field. We were shooting fast all over Brooklyn outside, so you can imagine the issues we faced with power and data transfer. We learned what works and what doesn't work really quick The best part of the new camera is that it shoot true slo-motion creating a beautiful image. Take a peek at the final product. See the video here -- 5/20/06 Trip to SOWA
Just finished screening "Flight" at the SOWA Film Festival. This marked it's first screening infront of an audience. Is's always a weird thing to watch your work with strangers. “StarvinwithLouis.com, Louis Scheele’s cross between a cooking and comedy show, came in a strong second. Lou is undoubtedly a cool guy he cooked lunch for Phoenix reporter Camille Dodero, who interviewed him. We like Lou’s attitude. He saw a tag line by a TV chef that there was “more to cook than ramen noodles,” and that “ticked me off. The point of my show is simple, there is more to cook than ramen noodles, but some of us are stuck with that shit. Starvin’ with Louis is about living on a budget and keeping a sense of humor.’’ Louis’s tag: “Louis shows you there is more to cooking than spending a shitload of money.” Thanks everyone who voted and read the full article here: LINK -- 4/5/06 SICK OF IT ALL!!!

Lawrence Sampson as a young J. Withers Ben Oliver’s contribution to this year’s Boston 48 Hour Film Project took all at the awards ceremony last night. “Life after Leukemia” is the story of a washed out child actor and his TV show brother remembering the “Good Times”. Starring Lawrence Sampson & Tom Morin this short film is hilariously serious and a must see! The film walked away with 6 awards including: “Best Locations”, “Best Editing”, “Best Acting”, “Best Direction”, "Best Screenplay", and the award for “Best Film”! Congratulations to the entire cast and crew!!! -- 5/11/05 I’m Hungry!!! So your sitting around bored on a Monday afternoon, what do you do? Create a cooking show of course…brilliant! So I just wrapped editing on the pilot episode of “I’m Starvin’ with Louis” and it’s funny as hell. An Internet show in less than three days? Hell yes because we are that good!!! -- 5/9/05 Charmed!
Was flexing my DP skills this weekend on the latest video for “The Charms” directed by Benjamin Oliver. They have recently been nominated as Best Boston Act by The Boston Phoenix/WFNX and just released their new album “Pussycat” in stores last week. The video was shot at “Galaxy Park” recording studio here in Allston and features some of my best work to date! The lighting was done by the great Mike Henry assisted by Zack Miller with AC skills from Lou Scheele and an awsome style crew from “The Honah Lee”. Here are some still grabs. As you can see the colors were amazing, and the make-up was dead on! -- 4/01/05 - “Out of Context” Screens at VAIL Film Festival. So we just heard the TV Show pilot we worked on last year (shot by Mike and edited by Ben) was accepted to the VAIL Film Festival in Colorado. The show was called “Out of Context” and was directed by Jonathan Crowley and written by old film school buddy Ryan Noggle. It was described as A half-hour news satire/sketch comedy hybrid targeted towards an 1835 demographic with an appreciation for irreverent comedy. Apparently the Vail Festival has a section for TV Show Pilots…weird. Good luck guys. -- 3/31/05 - Bens Peep Show -- 2/24/05 - Autumn Attention shuts down web server!!! |
